MY FIRST LOVE/MI PRIMER AMOR

MY FIRST LOVE

I remember it was a balmy afternoon on the town where I was born more than twenty years ago. A sweet sluggish breeze was whistling over the leaves of the trees like the sounds of silence over a metaphor. This was not a day as usual. While sitting on a bank on the winding avenue leading to my faculty, I started listening to the murmur of a spring -not so far away from there- like a harmonic melody emerging from its transparent water drops.

I was gazing quietly at the woman I had fallen in love with at first sight while roaming around the courtyard a week ago. I was touching her body from my memories. Her voice was charming. The few words she gave me as a gift that afternoon were roaring in my mind like waves coming and going on the shoreline. Her overwhelming beauty was an endless poem to be last forever, beyond any stanza. Her hazel eyes were sparkling like a myriad of stars lighting my desire since then. Words were more than simple syllables to be wasted in a nonsense conversation. I was in love and time did not exist for that moment.

Clocks were just street furniture while surveying her. This was the kind of lovely tenderness and affection I was always longing for. I did not tell her how much I needed to sail her skin with my fingers while being in silhouette. How much I needed a kiss from her lips. I did not know how to do it. It was the first time I felt something like that about a woman. I was so scared. I was so nervous that I could not stop sweating at all.
I saw her walking through the entrance door. I might conquer my fear definitely. I approached her as I stand up from the bank I was sitting on, with a poem I wrote in hand. I had already been talking to her three times since the moment we met, but never about this issue. I gave it to her and she red the whole document. I realized instantly that she was shocked. She did not expect me to tell that truth to her. Once she finished reading...

- Oh. This is wonderful, but...- she said.
- But you have someone else in mind, that's it?
- Yeah. I do not know what to say. This is so shocking. I left my boyfriend a week ago and...
- You do not need to say anything. I know what you mean.

I was about to cry my heart out. I had no chance to be loved. She did not love me as I thought from the way she was looking at me a few days ago. This moment was really painful. It had left a hurting mark on my soul.
At that time, the lyrics of a famous song came to my mind: "the first cut is the deepest"- said Cat Stevens. She is still a deep wound I cannot stop writing in my poems while going through my loneliness. She is going to be literature forever. My first love...

No sabía cómo hacerlo. No daba crédito.

- Oh. Esto es maravilloso, pero..
- Hay otro, ¿es eso?
-Sí. No sé qué decir.
